Ο John Kirby, Συντονιστής Στρατηγικής Επικοινωνίας του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου Εθνικής Ασφάλειας του Λευκού Οίκου, απάντησε σε ερωτήσεις των δημοσιογράφων.Ο Kirby εξέφρασε την άποψή του ότι μια ανθρωπιστική εκεχειρία για τους πολίτες στη Γάζα δεν είναι η σωστή απάντηση στο πρόβλημα και ότι τη στιγμή αυτή πιστεύουν ότι μια εκεχειρία θα ωφελήσει τον Χαμάς.
Ο Συντονιστής Στρατηγικής Επικοινωνίας επίσης δήλωσε ότι οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες υποστηρίζουν προσωρινές ανθρωπιστικές αναστολές για να διευκολυνθεί η εκκένωση των πολιτών που θέλουν να ξεφύγουν από τη βία στη Γάζα και η διάθεση ανθρωπιστικής βοήθειας στην περιοχή.
“Αν saw all you saw in Dagestan yesterday. This was a horrifying display of hatred, bigotry, and intimidation,” said Kirby, condemning Russia for not condemning the attempted attack on Israeli citizens at the airport in the Republic of Dagestan, an autonomous republic of the Russian Federation.
Kirby mentioned that he heard that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to hold a meeting on this issue, but other than that, he only heard “cricket sounds” from the Kremlin.
He further evaluated, “No condemnation. No call for an end to hate and discrimination. Nothing. And I think that says a lot.”
Earlier this week, an Israeli plane arriving at Makhachkala Airport in the Republic of Dagestan, which is part of the Russian Federation, was protested by hundreds of people and clashes broke out between demonstrators carrying Palestinian flags and security forces.
